Interview: "If I Wanted I Would" - Bamba

“If I Wanted I Would” is an excellent song that should remind us all – you have to be comfortable and whole within yourself before you can be so with another person. What do you hope listeners take away from this song?

Bamba: I want people to understand the importance of self-care and staying true to yourself. As time has gone on I have realized the importance of doing things for yourself and not for other people. Nowadays people put their happiness in the hands of someone else and they need to NOT lol.

Which interested you first, songwriting or singing, and what led you to pursue a career in music?

Bamba: First off singing! I used to run up and do Karaoke with my family when I was 4 years old. I was singing Whitney Houston ballads and other kids my age were singing nursery rhymes. Shout out to my grandma for forcing me to sing hahaha.

Which is your favorite song of your own (you can only choose one!)?

Bamba: My favorite song is the “next one” ;) I feel like once a song is released it stays in a moment that cultivated a certain feeling that I had in a previous chapter of my life. As I continue to grow in my journey everything that feels real to me and resonates with me are things that are happening now.

Who are some of your biggest musical inspirations and influences?

Bamba: Vocally - Beyoncé, Usher, Adele, Mariah. Musically - Rihanna, Frank Ocean, Beyoncé (again lol), The Weeknd, SZA.

What do you enjoy most about being an artist?

Bamba: Being able to express myself in a manner that is able to resonate with other people. Life is crazy……and I love creating art that lets you know I’m right there with you!

What are your hobbies and interests outside of music?

Bamba: Traveling, fashion, and sports!
