Interview: "Mayhem" by Molly Aisha

Q: Congratulations on the release of ‘Mayhem’! Can you share the story behind this song?

Molly: Thank you! The song is about feeling stuck in a dark place and having a lot on your shoulders, but feeling too afraid to reach out for help.

Q: What first got you into music?

Molly: It started with a passion for singing which came around the age of three, a core memory being singing along to 'Don't Know Why' by Norah Jones at the top of my lungs. The drive to start songwriting then came after learning the basics of piano at the age of ten, but not having the patience to learn full pieces and just wanting to make my own melodies instead.

Q: Who are your biggest music influences?

Molly: I take huge inspiration from Birdy, Lana Del Rey and Sia.

Q: What is your go-to karaoke song?

Molly: It's hard to pick just one, but I'll have to go with 'That Don't Impress Me Much' by Shania Twain.

Q: If you could perform anywhere in the world, where would you pick and why?

Molly: I think Tokyo would be a really exciting place to perform. Their fandom culture and concerts seem pretty crazy from what I've heard, and to be in Japan would be an incredible experience in itself!

Q: We can’t wait to hear more from you! What can we expect next?

Molly: I have some exciting collaborations coming up, including plans to have an artist feature on my next release, which should be on your screens mid springtime. Until then, my social media will remain active where I'll carry on sharing my covers and songwriting with the world, so stay tuned!
