Interview: "No Pressure" by Jessica Taddio
Q: I really love the soundscape of 'No Pressure'! Could you tell us who some of your biggest influences are?
Jessica: Thank you, I am so glad you did :). As far as influences go we really took a dive into traditional and current sounds of pop. We listened to Taylor Swift, Carley Rae Jepsen, as well as some more dance oriented DJ’s such as Louis The Child. Like always, the bass being a prominent feature in most of my songs is important. I love when I hear and feel the bass and drums in songs so that was an important sound for No Pressure as well as some distorted ad libs.
Q: Can you tell us one of your favorite moments while filming the music video for 'No Pressure'?
Jessica: Looking through old videos of my sister and I, working with talented director Mrs. Makaveli and exploring different areas of Montreal while shooting it this summer. Also filming with a super 8 was very cool.
Q: What is the inspiration behind 'No Pressure'?
Jessica: Just feeling free and liberated from one's constant state of fear, stress or perfectionism. I refer back to being a child, feeling nostalgic about being creative and free without bearing any judgment that sometimes gets in the way of creativity. The song really chants the idea of escaping into a state of freedom and bliss before the clock strikes midnight and boom, we are back to reality.
Q: No Pressure' has a French version which is so beautiful! What made you decide to release the song in French as well?
Jessica: Thank you. I live in Montreal, Quebec. French is such a beautiful language and is predominantly spoken in my city so it makes sense to have a bilingual version. I really enjoy doing it :)!
Q: If you could perform anywhere in the world, where would you choose?
Jessica: Japan, Denmark, Sweden, and Italy.
Q: What's next for you and your musical journey?
Jessica: Excited to finally create an EP! I am so fortunate to be working with a great team of musicians like Luca Libortre (producer) and BAYLA (singer/songwriter). We are working well into 2022 to create some great new songs :D!
