It’s really easy to criticize yourself, and everyone does it. It’s easier to say negative things rather than positive things. Being self-critical can be okay at times because it helps you acknowledge mistakes and change things, but it can also be damaging. Hanna Ögonsten’s single, “Big Teeth” is about the struggles with self-criticism and self-doubt. It can happen in any stage of life and be hard to ignore but knowing that doing it in a healthy way would work better because you’re learning to see yourself in a better light. Everyone wants to work on themselves, but we have to remember to do it positively. Your only enemy is you, and you'll have to fight your own battles that you created within your mind and body.
“Big Teeth” has an alt-pop in its soundscape paired with honest lyrics. Her raw vocals enhance the words she’s singing that shows her vulnerability. She’s able to capture a meaningful message with an upbeat tune that balances out the track, and it creates a diverse listen which is captivating to hear. The music also has an influenced indie beat which gives it a funky melody that is easy to groove to. Hanna’s voice is distinct giving it a charming impact that enriches the sound. She has control in her voice where she’s allowed to create a different sensation throughout especially after the second chorus.
There's an echo fade out at the end of the song that enhances the buzzing ringing sound to capture the mood.
