Review: "I choose you" - Anni

Figuring out love and what you're looking for in a relationship is a journey. Though the process might be exhausting and sometimes painful, eventually you'll come to know exactly what you're looking for and what red flags to avoid. You seek to find someone who will value you and put you first, above anyone else. Anni focuses on this in her latest single, "I choose you." The new alt-pop track is inspired by Anni's experience with an ex. She wrote it after her ex told her that there are "too many options" on dating apps and such. After this she realized that really loving someone means choosing them before any of the other "options." No matter what, you choose them every day and make them your priority, your first pick. If someone truly loves you, they'll want to show you off and only you.

Slow and soft, "I choose you" gives off a moody romance vibe. Anni's hushed, quiet vocals gently deliver lyrics about what she wants in a relationship—how she wants to find someone she can choose and who will choose her no matter what. Her vocals are supported by soft pop beats and dreamy synth sounds. Though it might have been painful discovering what she wants in a relationship, "I choose you" showcases a positive message. The melodies and harmonies behind the lyrics give an optimistic, hopeful feeling for finding a love that loves you back. Between the chill alt-pop beats and Anni's sweet voice, "I choose you" gives off plenty of fuzzy, romantic feelings.

Anni, formerly known as Annika Grace, is a Los Angeles based alt-pop singer, songwriter, and poet. She is the creator of a house concert series in Venice Beach called "Saturdays at Seven." Anni leans in to the new era of music, exploring more vulnerable material. Her music reflects themes that are authentic, raw, and sometimes ugly, as music does not always have to be pretty. Anni's moody music is often included in playlists that feature other artists like Billie Eilish, Hozier, and Birdy. Some other great songs to check out from Anni are "Guest List," "Sedona," and "Dinner Party." Anni is off to a strong start with her music career and I can't wait to see what she comes up with next.
