Review: "If I Believe" - The Mucks

Uncertainty in love can be terrifying and a huge risk, betting on something that might not work out and choosing to gamble on it anyway. There are ups and downs, highs and lows associated with the unknown, inspiring a mix of fear and hope while falling in love. The Mucks express these feelings well in their energetic new indie single, "If I Believe." The fiery track is their first release of the year, following the band's 2023 debut. Questioning the feelings and confusion they're experiencing with this budding relationship, lead singer Michael Dunn wonders in the lyrics, "Is it love/Is it love/Is it pain/Is it pain?"

Creating a perfect blend of indie-pop and indie-rock, "If I Believe" seamlessly encapsulates elements of both genres in its composition. The track features anthemic guitar riffs, ethereal synths, and driving drums, forming a captivating soundscape to support Michael Dunn's passionate vocals. Edgy and raw, The Mucks showcase a sound that is equal parts refined and unpolished, giving "If I Believe" an authentic essence that flawlessly fits in the indie world. The sound the band creates in this track is reminiscent of groups like Catfish & The Bottlemen, Inhaler, and Gang of Youths.

Making waves in the indie scene, The Mucks debuted in 2023 with their single "I Don't." The group consists of members Michael Dunn (Vocals), Conor McGuire (Guitar), Scott Johnson (Guitar), Kieran King (Bass), and Stephen Beck (Drums). Catching the attention of some prolific radio stations, The Mucks have been featured on BBC Introducing and Radio X. Since their debut, they have garnered over 45K streams on Spotify and have been selling out headlining shows. Their music is made for enthralling live performances, featuring a loud and blood-pumping energy that translates into a powerful stage presence.
