Getting over a breakup can be hard. The once light feeling of love is replaced with heavy sadness. The good thing is that the sadness subsides over time, and you find other things in your life to keep you busy. For example, You may get a new job or pick up a cool hobby. Despite all the good that’s happening, you want to be in love again. Physical affection releases good chemicals in the brain, so it’s no wonder that we crave it. You want to put yourself out there, but you are also afraid of getting hurt. Amie Jay has been at this place in her life. She writes about these warring feelings in her new upbeat pop song, “Miss Being In Love.”
The mood of the song switches from sad to hopeful as Amie Jay expresses all her feelings about love. The first verse starts out slow, but it has a good bass line. This kind of gives it a power ballad feel. Jay sings about longing for affection and waiting to keep her heart guarded at the same time. In the chorus, she keeps having this back and forth. Even so, the music becomes more upbeat. The chorus ends very optimistically with “my life’s a movie. Honey I’m the lead, but I miss being in love.” The second verse and chorus are structured in the same way. This shows the war she is fighting with her feelings. In the end, Jay decides to be brave and find love again. I think she made the right choice.
Singer/Songwriter Amie Jay was born and raised in London, UK. She has had a love for music from a very young age. Her goal in writing music is to tell stories.
