Review: "No Label" - Rachel White

“No Label” is the perfect pop jam to describe what it’s like being in a ‘situationship’. So often in today’s dating world, we find ourselves in this position where we’ve been seeing someone for an extended period of time and have feelings for them, yet you’re not dating. If this has been you, then you know all too well the feelings of confusion and hurt you get from trying to figure out where you’re at and how to navigate this complicated relationship that isn’t a relationship. Rachel White’s latest single talks about the ins and outs of this confusing dynamic and the time spent with that significant other. It’s the perfect song to listen to when you might need some guidance or just someone to relate to when you’re going through a tough time in your relationship.

Listen to "No Label" here!

Catchy, yet smooth and relaxed, “No Label” becomes the perfect tune to vibe to. The main focus of the single is on the vocals. White has a very casual and smooth way of singing that makes her song feel like a conversation that just happened to be sung. I especially enjoyed the backup singers throughout the song, it gave it an angelic kind of feel to it. With the high register notes, a more airy tone and multiple female voices, it simply sounded gorgeous. It was very smooth and appealing to the ears. My favorite lyrics from this song were, “You give me nothing/ I’m lost in the dark”. I just felt like I related to these words a little too much. These types of situationships can be so painful simply because you don’t know what’s going on. It’s truly an awful feeling to be confused and you really do feel like the lights have been turned out and everything is upside down, you just feel lost.

Rachel White began her musical career during the Covid pandemic in 2020 when she released her first single, “Royalty”. Since then, White has found success in her career by garnering support from BBC. Rachel White takes pride in her music in knowing that she is creating music that is relatable and honest for her listeners. Her goal as an artist is to let her listeners find new perspectives and advice as well as support from her songs. Keep your eyes and ears peeled for upcoming music by Rachel!
