Your new single “Heal Me” is so incredibly captivating, I can’t stop listening to it! What is the story behind this new track?
MOREA: Thank you! I wrote the song when I felt like I wanted to give all responsibility of living to someone else, I wanted someone to chose what i wear, to tell me how to be a good person, who to trust, what to do with my life.
Since you are the daughter of a musician, have you always known music was something you wanted to pursue?
MOREA: All I remember is that I always wanted to be singer, there were phases where I thought for a few months I could become a psychologist or something else, but to be honest since I started admitting to myself that its music, and it has always been, what I wanted to do and that I will put all my energy into the goal of making the music that I like and become better at my instruments and build my voice I am getting happier.
I struggle(d) a lot with the meaning of life, feeling useless and being scared of the future or regretting the past. But admitting what i really wanted and working for that made a massive difference in my over all happiness and well-being!
Can you take us through what your songwriting process looks like?
MOREA: I get that asked a lot and I really don’t know the answer, it is as individual as the song itself. Sometimes it starts with a word or a phrase, sometimes it starts with a melody, sometimes with chords on the piano and sometimes with chords or a riff on the guitar. Sometimes it takes 1 hour and some songs took me years. Heal me started with me experimenting on the guitar, finding a melody that I really liked and putting a whole song together in just 1 or two days. A friend of mine wrote a Bassline on that and this directed the song in a whole other way.
What would you say is the best album of all time? An album that has no skips and you can listen straight through!
MOREA: That I don’t skip songs in a album is rare, but The Dark Side Of The Moon by Pink Floyd is one where I can’t skip, not even one. Also Plastic Love and A Friend by Say Yes Dog gets me every time!
If you could play a show at any venue or city in the world, where would you pick and why?
MOREA: I think my hometown would be a really nice Debut. I would love to play a small concert in Festsaal Kreuzberg in Berlin or Zitadelle Spandau in summer for example. But to be honest it doesn’t really matter, I just want to play!
Any upcoming projects you can talk about?! I’m so impressed by your talent, and I can’t wait to hear what else you have in store for the world!
MOREA: Thank you again!! There is actually something really exciting coming! I am going to release an Ep in december, we were recording with the vest band ever, filming music videos and just planning this whole thing the last month and now it is finally going to see the light of the world. My Revival.
