Interview: "I've Been Thinking" - Darcey Flo

Q: ‘I’ve Been Thinking’ is such a beautiful song! What inspired you to write it?

Darcey: I wrote this song in the midst of the pandemic. The year that forced us to see the fact that life can change so quickly. But it also showed me what’s important. Nature, time outside, allowing ourselves to play and daydream like we did as kids, slowing down, exploring. The song is about wanting to find yourself by getting lost, in nature, in the blue and green.

Q: When did you know you wanted to start making your own music?

Darcey: I have always written songs and sang, but it was only in the past few years that I thought, 'fuck it, let's get these songs made and see what happens'. I really enjoy the process of making them and so I just want to keep doing it for as long as I can.

Q: Who are some of your biggest music influences?

Darcey: I grew up listening to Jack Johnson, Norah Jones, Corinne Bailey Rae, all really talented songwriters and storytellers.

Q: If you weren’t doing music, what would you be up to right now?

Darcey: I am an artist and painter, so in my free time I like to do that. I'd probably be doing that full time.

Q: If you could pick a theme song for your life, which would you pick and why?

Darcey: Maybe Ziggy Marley – Believe in Yourself. It was the theme song to a cartoon I watched as a kid called Hey Arthur. I don't know it's just happy haha.

Q: What can we expect next from you? We’re excited to hear more!

Darcey: I am releasing a new song in March that i'm super excited about, and then I am working on my EP that should be released later this year!
