Megan Wheeler brings us yet another powerful and emotion filled song that is so relatable. Getting your heart broken is a pain that no one prepares you for, there are weeks or even months where you find yourself still hoping it’s just a bad dream. So that maybe you can stop putting so much pressure on yourself and what you did wrong and focus on healing and moving on. Breakups are a hard thing to gauge, you can go from thinking you know the other so well that if it ever came down to it, you’d get the closure you needed and deserved. But that is so far from the truth and the person you think you may know becomes a stranger all over again. “Acceptance of You” is a song about heartbreak and feeling all the emotions good and bad that it comes with.
“Acceptance of You” opens with a hauntingly catchy melody that I for one could not stop humming. It was smooth and laid back which I thought was different for a song that gives off great vulnerability. It encompassed her vocals and lyrics perfectly paving the way for the resilient mood of the entire track. Her voice was so strong and powerful throughout, especially with lyrics like “I used to think that I only wanted you, / but now I’ve come to the acceptance of you.” When she sang those words it gave me chills every single time. The relaxed but very present instrumentals paired with the beautiful message made this song really inspiring.
