As summer transitions to fall we anticipate cozy songs from our favorite artist's. I can reassure all you music lovers that Babygirl does just that with her new song "All Is Well." We've been gifted a song that helps us visualize what it's like to feel safe with another person. One of my favorite lines says, "I want you eight days a week / And when it's not enough for me / I'll turn my head and see infinity." There's something so pure and sweet about knowing you have the perfect person to count on when you need the support. The cuteness overload doesn't end there, the chorus provides even more comfort and joy when it says, "Cause I can tell when you look at me that way / Everything I'm feeling, you feel the same / And all is well, is well, is well." Babygirl has set us in motion toward the fall season and I'm living for it!
We're given a gentle and warm mood for the fall season, which is exactly what we need. The artist is vulnerable with us from the moment the song begins. The tone is intimate and truthful, Babygirl isn't trying to hide the emotions that are present in everyday life. As the listener we're embracing the comfort that the artist is making known to us. The lyrics help tie the emotions together making the piece whole. Lyrically, the song conveys hope, trust, and affection, which further solidifies the overall message. A big part of the safety we feel when listening comes from the tempo. Instead of a high energy, upbeat, and speedy pace we're given a soft buildup that eases us into the depth of the topic at hand. All the elements of the song come together to create a smooth-as-butter finished product.
Babygirl is a Toronto-based duo. They have dubbed their wispy-voice indie-pop as "bubblegum emo." Babygirl's song "I Wish I Never Met You" released in 2018 was their first major song with almost 27 million streams on Spotify. Their debut EP "As You Wish" was released in 2016 and since then they've been on a steady incline, moving farther up the hill. If you listen to "All Is Well" and fall in love, be sure to keep an eye out for their upcoming album "Stay Here Where It's Warm." The album is set to release October 9th, making it the perfect album for plunging deep into the fall feeling with all the spooky vibes.
