Noelle Sucks latest single “Copy Ur Keys”, featuring Spencer Chamberlain, explores the interdependent cycle of keeping someone close to you in your memory even if they don’t fit into your life anymore. Homesickness usually derives from longing for a place or family, but what if it could be for a person? As you pace around with your newly copied keys, you might remember that certain someone who kept you on track. As you spend hours slipping back into your self-destructive cycles, you can’t help but long for the presence of someone who cared for you at your lowest. You think they could direct your path into change and taking the right medications, but you know deep down that they don’t have a place for you now. It’s easier to let yourself drown and pine for what they once gave you. As you contemplate the choices that led you to where you are, you get closer and closer to keeping them on your roster. Making a new set of keys so you have access to them and they have access to you seems only right and natural.
“Copy Ur Keys” is a synthpop and pop rock anthem that balances its softer vocals against its more narratively heavy lyricism. We first begin with a brief instrumental with electronic instrumentation to effectively set the overall tone. After a sweet yet fast-paced vocal performance by Noelle is introduced, heavily electronified vocal stims play between each lyric in the pre-chorus. During the chorus, the background vocal performance from Chamberlain. These vocals invoke more guttural screams you would typically hear in genres such as heavy metal, blending seamlessly into this narrative of the piece. His prominent vocals in the following verse are much softer and intertwine perfectly with Noelle’s vocals. There is never a moment throughout this single that doesn't seem effectively blended together.
