Elina Cutting Ties Cover Art

Nothing beats hearing a song for the first time and the lyrics paint a picture so perfeclty, subtly and almost like the artist barely had to put any effort in it as it resembles life so well. The song "Cutting Ties" by Elina is exactly one of those songs. It's soothing strums of the acoustic guitar and soft, gentle nature of Elina's voice allow listeners to simply drift off into their own world as Elina talks about theirs. This song breaks into the heartache that is thinking one thing about a relationship, person or situation - putting your entire soul into it - only to realize that it's not working out.

This song is so gentle in the music. Everything about it screams softness besides the lyrics. The song starts off with a simple guitar strum and simple drum beat. The music is so easily the perfect match for Elina's soft-natured whispy voice as they go into some of the most beautiful lyrics I've heard written down. Right up at the top of the song in the first verse, Elina flexes their writing abilites describing the perfecet set up questioning why anyone would want to stop what they have with the person their writing about. After all, it seems that Elina stopped everything to make sure things were in alignment with this person. They did everything they could, so why should it end? One of my personal favorite lines is how Elina paints the sky saying, "'Neath the pink and orange sky." This kind of detail fully immerses listeners.

Elina is a swedish singer-songwriter who crafts elegant, soft, mellow music and is making sure thath their footprint is permanent in the industry. WIth an astounding 465k monthly listeners on Spotify, Elina is breaking barriers all while sticking to their guns. Some of their biggest achievements thus far is co-writing songs for Maroon 5, Zara Larsson and Hilary Duff. Their first album, Whatever Happens Now, was released in 2023, alongside some incredible singles like Paper Planes which has massed 73 million plays on Spotify. The highly anticipated second album, A Place I Recognize, is set to release on November 14th.
