Avery Lynch has struck yet again with another sad and simplistic song about love and heartbreak. The title track of her most recent EP, “Dead to Me”, was released April 25th, and is nothing short of a lyrical masterpiece intended to hit listeners hard. “‘Dead to Me' is about a very close relationship I had with someone that I don’t know anymore,” she says. “It’s about missing that person but coming to terms with how the version of them that I knew no longer exists.” Lynch’s delicate voice is paired only over a simple piano line, letting listeners feel as if she is sat down alone in front of them pouring her heart out. This kind of vulnerability is what Lynch is known for, and lets her music be all the more enticing.

Lynch sings this song directly to her old flame, which allows listeners to sing along and attach these words to whoever has hurt them as well. She starts by acknowledging all of the things that have been left behind, like old friends and memories, even down to mannerisms that she picked up from them. My personal favorite lyric is found in the pre-chorus, and is posed as a question Lynch is asking herself. She sings, “How do you end up all in and it still falls short? / No ill intentions but that doesn't mean that it doesn't hurt”. In such simple words, she explains the feeling that sometimes no matter how much you love someone, it still will not work. Knowing you’re not right for each other certainly doesn't make it any easier to deal with the fallout.

Avery Lynch has been involved in the music scene since she was seven years old, when she first started playing the piano. Now at age 25, Lynch’s love for music has taken her from her birthplace in Pennsylvania to her now home in Los Angeles, to a degree from Berklee College of Music, over 300k TikTok followers, and almost 400k monthly Spotify listeners. Fans of Lynch keep coming back for her confessional tone and heartfelt lyrics. With Lynch’s work, there is no fluff or anything left to soften the blow. Her music is simplistic and raw, and that is what sets her apart. Make sure to follow the social medias below to stay tuned for more music from Avery Lynch.
