Review: "Disappointing Me" - Erica Knox

Erica Knox released her latest single “Disappointing Me” on May 2,2025. This song expresses feelings of letting go of the person you love even if you can’t imagine life without them. There are hundreds of couples in relationships everyday that have been together for five plus years. Some of these couples may be together for longer and carry on to marriage but some find themselves hitting a wall and not knowing whether they should continue. It is the most life changing decision you will ever have to make when leaving the person you love. There are so many memories that have been lived and so many more that may never get the chance to live. Knowing when to let go on one another is the easy part but staying with someone you aren’t sure about is where you begin to lose yourself.
The track opens up with a delicate and what I can only describe as a homey guitar melody. The strings being played were so breathtaking, pairing gracefully with her tender vocals. She sang so lightheartedly but with a great amount of strength in each lyric. I absolutely loved how the beginning started with a slow pace then transitioned perfectly into a lively and infectious mood. The steady instrumentals were my favorite part. They made the tone of the song sound so familiar and friendly. While I loved everything “Disappointing Me” had to offer I really enjoyed how she turned such a vulnerable and relatable feeling into a catchy masterpiece.
Erica Knox is a talented singer/songwriter from Canada. In 2016 she released her first single titled “You Don’t Own My Mind.” Later in 2019 she was nominated as Canada’s Best Emerging Artist and has since then been creating wonderful songs. In everything she creates you can hear just how honest and vulnerable they all are making her an all-around gifted artist. I highly recommend giving her a listen as she delivers songs that resonate with anyone who listens.
