Review: "Do It Anyway" - Taia Dya

“Do It Anyway” is a synth pop anthem that explores the process of realizing that one must take control of their own life decisions instead of relying on others. Amongst life difficulties, we have our individual ways of coping and navigating through it all. Once you become more spatially aware of yourself and your individuality, panic can arise within you. There are so many more troubles in everyday life, how can you rise above it all? Chances for help seem few and far between and the usual avenues are growing more narrow. While waiting for a clear cut answer handed to you on a silver platter, you finally begin to understand how life should be: you need to just do it. Do the thing you are scared of. Burn every bridge and make every monumental life decision you have been waiting on outside forces to make for you.

“Do It Anyway” is an electro alt pop anthem that is a perfect blend of modern styling and nostalgic feelings. The highlight of this single comes from the synth and electro styling of its instrumentation. Showcased primarily in the chorus, the synth beats shape the single and dictate its every step. It simultaneously follows the vocalist's guide and makes itself known alone. It is prominent enough to accompany every vocal note, almost as if it is another accompanying harmony. This continuous utilization of the synth grounds this single in a nostalgic undertone as you imagine late 80s pop singles. The vocalization, with her every note highlighted by the ongoing narrative, is a great accompaniment to the instrumentation while also shining on its own.
