“every time” is the newest single from Sofie Alise, a song about not being able to let go from a toxic on-and-off relationship. Alise points out the flaws that make up her significant other, and that despite them, she can’t help but go back to this person because she is used to the relationship and it’s dynamics. It’s like a magnet that’s pulling her in that she can’t escape from, and she feels as though she has no other choice but to go back again and again, time after time. Alise shows off her great songwriting abilities by detailing the cycle of manipulation in “every time”.
Power radiates throughout each moment of this song, from beginning to end. “every time” starts off with a verse that contains Alise’s distinct vocals that immediately draw you into the single, and so do the fitting piano notes that accompany her. Once the chorus hits, a wave of strong and mighty instrumentation and production design comes flying right in, meant to catch you off guard but in the best way possible, as Alise belts out the lyrics, presenting her large vocal range. Taking in the lyrics, vocals, instrumentation, and production all at the same time shows you the emotional depth and all of the hard and dedicated work that was put into a song this incredible.
