“Fear of Flying” is the title track from Jordan Rawson’s new EP, a song about getting past being scared of failure and taking chances, and the importance of trial and error. It’s understandable to be afraid of doing anything for the first time, as the fear of the unknown is prevalent within many people, but you must keep the saying “you miss all of the shots you don’t take” in mind, in order to conquer your fears and take a chance. If something doesn’t work out or if you fail, then you know that it wasn’t meant to be, but you can never know for sure if you don’t take the plunge and see if you can achieve goals and dreams. You need to take control of your destiny and not let your fears takeover instead.
Folk and alt-pop are the primary influencing genres of the first track of the EP. This song sounds like an upbeat modern swing, with the production as optimistic and uplifting as the lyrics. The instrumentation contains layered acoustic guitar strings that are in a fast-paced tempo, along with a beat consisting of raw drums and a secondary guitar section of banjo chords. This is a great song and perfect to dance to at a wedding reception or any fun party with your friends and family. Rawson is also an incredible singer, his voice perfect for any genre, including the main ones in “Fear of Flying” and the country vibes that are implemented throughout the track.
