Madison Margot "Fun" Cover Art

Madison Margot lures an old love into the veil of the past through a common proposition: just one more night. She sings “one more night where we can kick it for the hell of it,” aiming to resurrect the memories of hope that flutter in her head. Madison fantasizes about one last taste of this person, singing “you keep me up through the night”. She sells this last night rendezvous with a yearn-heavy “wouldn’t that be fun?”. She knows it might be “irresponsible, illogical” to “reopen what we closed,” but allows a compulsory persuasion that begs for one last glimpse of this person. Madison creates an intimate exclusivity with them that acknowledges her poor judgement through lyrics like “they’ll never know.” Madison longs for a bit more time with a past lover through the vulnerable lyrics of “Fun”.

Madison’s voice is smooth with bits of vibrato that lean into an upbeat chorus to distract from a somber subject. The introduction offers an electro-pop sound effect that adds dimension to the track. A fuzzy baseline carries the beat with light drumming that fluctuates. Slight vocal reverberation contributes to an ethereal sound that embodies the ghost of memories in the track. Slower sections include acoustic strings that soften the sound and ground the listener. “Fun” provides an instrumental stability that contrasts the emotions in the song. This creates a well-rounded track that attracts and retains listeners. Madison sports an inflection so emotion-packed that the track evokes complex feelings.

American pop singer/songwriter, Madison Margot, began singing, writing, and playing instruments when she was just 11 years old. Her work is similar to that of Taylor Swift, Haim, and Halsey’s.
