Review: "Heads on Fire" - Ava Valianti

One of the newest singles from her aptly titled second EP Sophomore Slump, Ava Valianti touches on mental anguish with poetic verses in "Heads on Fire". The track name describes how she feels when it comes to the burden of how overwhelmed she is altogether. She uses songwriting as a way to express her feelings as to not keep them bottled up, and she communicates this throughout "Heads on Fire", wanting to shed the facade she has put up so she can escape from her escalating distress. Valianti has penned from a personal place in her life to lyrically reach out to others who are also going through what she is.
If you have chromesthesia, it should make sense as to why the lyric video for this Sophomore Slump track is edited to have an orange filter. Not just because its called "Heads on Fire", but from the blend of folk and soft rock-inspired drums, to the bass guitars filled with personality, and to Valianti's one-of-a-kind singing style, this is definitely an orange song. The color of the EP artwork's backdrop is blue, orange's complimentary color, which is symbolic for how the production and lyrics go hand in hand, both exuding encompassing elements of emotion.
Newbury, Massachusetts native Ava Valianti is making her way through the pop scene wielding a guitar and a notepad. She's made a name for herself with her distinct sound, whether thats with her amazing singles or either one of her incredible EPs. It's no doubt that Valianti is a fantastic, exceptional talent, establishing herself as such with what she has done with her discography and studio career. In addition to music recording sessions, she's also a pop/rockstar on the stage, where she has displayed her musicianship at venues such as the Brighton Music Hall and The Bitter End, as well as on the radio. Ava Valianti is an extraordinary music artist!
