Review: "Human" - Child

Finish the lyric: But I’m only _____! If you said human, than you are correct! Child’s second EP, Human, has finally hit planet Earth! The title track to this epic EP goes into depth about all the beautiful, imperfect things we all do. This track is said to be a tribute to humanity, as it is the last on the EP. While talking about purpose, emotional journeys, and transience, Child delievers raw, storytelling vocals to listeners. Now, before I say too much, let’s dive into this song!

The song starts off with punctual hi-hats that keep the rhythm throughout. To add more punch, the wobbly bass comes in with a electro-pop vibe. Her vocals throughout are fantastic! Not only with backing vocals peeping behing verses, but even when her layers in the chorus that travel throughout octatves adds a beautiful effect! Speaking of the chorus, the buildup before the chorus hits is super great! There is also a string instrument behind the scenes, elevanting the song as a whole. To top this all off, Child adds different people to the ending such as Nick Mellow, Andrea Schmider, and Deborah Monard, to give more to the meaning of the song. It truly encapsulates the very being of humanity.

Child is a singer/songwriter hailing from Bern, Switzerland. Child sings about life’s ups and downs regarding the people surrounding them. Her genre is a mixture of folk, pop, and indie that swirled with melancholy lightness. Since her debut EP in 2021, her second track has repeatedly played on radio stations since being named Song Of The Day on SRF3 radio. In 2022, she released her record and later in the following year, she reaped success with her the Music Loft Award. She has been collaborating with various artists and new producers, including more new songs and concerts to continue releasing throughout the year into 2026.
