Even when you get past all those non-healthy coping mechanisms, there will always be new vices to help cover up a breakdown. I've definitely been there, especially when losing YOUR person. The one that's been in your life for what seems to be an eternity, gone. This feeling and idea are all interwined within Ella Collier's newest album's title track, "I DON'T DO DRUGS". She talks about the pain and struggle one goes through between bad habits and numbness. Ella speaks on this, saying that the song is about "all the ways I distracted myself from this sting I felt abandoned in, and how even though I don’t do drugs anymore, I will use anything else to numb myself from this realization that he’s really gone and that no high will ever feel the same as the person this song is about." That pain of losing someone can really break you down, and listeners can feel seen with the message Ella shares.
