Review: "In My Blood" - KRYSTOF

A person's bloodstream is the most integral part of their being. It passes oxygen through the brain, allows the heart to beat, and helps the body fight off infections that could cause it harm. Austrian singer-songwriter KRYSTOF’s newest single “In My Blood” adds one more quality to the bloodstream: his love for his partner. He states that he is so deeply in love that she has infiltrated his bloodstream, the very thing that keeps him alive. Her love allows him to keep breathing, seeps into his brain, and gives him a purpose to keep going throughout the days. She expels all the negatives, and the single's upbeat and electronic nature reflect the happiness he feels. This track joins his slew of singles, and has grown KRYSTOF a following since its release on August 30th.

Throughout his verses and lyrics, he states that his lover doesn’t know what she is doing to him, but lists all of the positive impacts she has on him. She makes it easy to breathe, she feels like home, and he feels like he could never flatline. In his chorus, he sings, “You’re the blood in my body / Make my heartbeat / Go like boom boom boom”. Throughout the background, there is an element of pop and electronic beats, almost mimicking a heartbeat. Adding this fun and lighthearted soundscape to a topic such as important as this one shows contrast and variety in KRYSTOF’s work, and allows the production to shine through.

22 year old singer-songwriter KRYSTOF is from Carinthia, Austria, and has had music ingrained in him since birth. His mother is a professional pop singer, and from a young age he taught himself to play guitar and create chords. He began to write music at the age of 14, and signed to his first record deal at 17. Hitting high numbers on various charts and radio stations, KRYSTOF has over 3,000 monthly Spotify streamers and over 5 million total streams worldwide. He writes and composes all of his songs himself, and he has been dubbed the “Sad Pop Boy”. His sound is similar to that of DJ David Guetta and KYGO, extremely upbeat and electronic, while still focusing on storytelling through his lyrics.
