Late night thoughts haunting you? Get out of your head by listening to Rachel Ruzumna’s newest single “in my mind”! This heartbreaking yet relatable song reminds listeners of the struggle of when the anxiety and stress overtakes us. The rawness of the vocals mixed with the storytelling creates such an intimate space for listeners. Everyone, especially myself, have all gone through the ringer with our own minds. Especially during the late night when you all you have is yourself in your thoughts. So if you’re alone with those thoughts and you’re looking for a song to get you out of that headspace, listen to this one for sure!

Right off the bat we get a country-like instrumental with the guitar and the heavy vocals. The bass strums constantly, adding space and depth. The flanger effect gives it the perfect distortion to give it the late night vibes. Opening up the chorus is light hi-hat drums that make the reverb perfectly crunchy. There is a perfect relationship between the vocals and the drums that create this mighty presence. The repetitve instrumental entagled with the lyrics create such a gorgeous space for late night thoughts to wander in postive directions. The ending lyrics really tie it all together: “i just had to get out, didn’t look at the time/but it’s all in my mind/it’s all in my mind/it's all in my mind.” Reminding all of us that while these thoughts can take over us, it’s all in our minds.

Rachel Ruzumna is a singer/songwriter based in Los Angeles, originating from northern Chicago. She began her musical journey at the young age of five, and continued on to learn how to write songs when she was fourteen. During this time, she performed her first original piece during an open mic her sophomore year. This not only opened her eyes to the music world, but led her to pursue a career within music. Despite her parent’s warnings, Rachel moved out to Los Angeles to pursue her music career, forging her own path. She recently signed with BAM Artists, becoming their first signed artist in the beginning of October. She has since came out with nobody likes la and this lovely song.
