Review: "Ingram Road" - Libby Johnston

Libby Johnston’s latest single “Ingram Road” was released on May 11, 2025. The song is set around a beautiful message that many can relate too. While growing up can be exciting and a whole new chapter in your life is just starting. The fear and sadness of leaving your family to go and live that life never leaves your mind. No matter how old you are or how far away you are from those you love there is always this feeling that something is missing. You may be leaving a huge piece of your heart behind wherever you go but the love you receive by leaving is greater than anything.
The song opens up with the most heart-warming intro possible. With a gentle and old home video feel starting off this track I immediately was drawn in. Everything about this song felt so homey and familiar, not to mention how soul stirring her voice was. I could not get enough of the beautiful lyrics like “I wanted to thank you for being so kind / For leading the way all of the time.” I thought this track was really distinctive in the way that she was just having a conversation. It was so sincere and genuine, and I simply loved every second of it as it reminded me of times when I have to leave for long periods of time.
Libby Johnston is a singer/songwriter from Auckland, New Zealand. She started releasing music just a few years ago in 2023 with her first single titled “right person, wrong time.” While she only has a few tracks they are all purely her. In everything she releases she does so with a great amount of passion and honesty ensuring her listeners can relate to it. “Ingram Road” is such a wonderful song which she dedicated and gifted to her mother this past mother’s day. I highly recommend listening to this track as it displays such a touching message.
