Review: "Kids Again" - SAINT KID

Saint Kid has released his new song, “Kids Again.” Looking back on a failed relationship, Saint Kid wishes to go back, not only to return to his past lover but to also retain the innocence of a young relationship. Saying that “[they] won’t be kids again with someone new,” the experience of the relationship lingers on his mind. With the memories comes questions and hopes of rekindling–what would be the best approach to reopening the relationship? Fighting for the relationship or leaving it be in hopes his partner returns on their own? It's a hopeless decision, one that Saint Kid feels like "[he] can't choose" on. With the relationship on his mind, "Kids Again" looks back on Saint Kid’s younger days with pain that he and his partner will never return to where they were again.
Through reflection and subtle backing instrumentation, Saint Kid’s new outlook on the relationship he shared with this past partner is emotional in the best kind of way. Acknowledging all of the nights that weren’t perfect but knowing he would do it all again, Saint Kid not only clearly shows the bittersweet feeling of leaving something in the past, but growing up in general. Knowing that “if [he] lets [his partner] go then it’s not the only thing [he loses],” Saint Kid is at a crossroads: either let go of his partner and the younger version of himself that experienced that relationship, or continue to fight for something that’s not only connected to his former love, but his former innocence as well.
Saint Kid is a 21-year-old singer currently based out of Los Angeles. Known for his ambient sonics and vulnerable lyrics, his discography is littered with raw melodies, samples of rivers and forests, and haunting vocals. Born in upstate New York, Saint Kid grew up around touring musicians who inspired him to not only pursue artistry but to also teach himself piano, guitar, drums, and bass. After relocating to Los Angeles on a renovated school bus, Saint Kid continues to grow as an artist. With his sophomore EP “Security” now released on all platforms, Saint Kid continues to expand his discography with more gorgeous songs.
