Sometimes you can't remember why you left somewhere until you go back. People leave their hometowns for many reasons; whether it's to follow their dreams, for love, or to get away from someone - but even then, you find yourself missing it sometimes for god knows why. So, you go back, take a look around, and realize that while you've become a completely different person, this town hasn't changed at all; and now you're already ready to leave and never come back again. "Know This" by Braison Cyrus featuring his sister Miley Cyrus is about not feeling bad about growing out of your hometown and the people who live there. They sing together, "I guess I could stay here and work for pay and spend it, making up new reasons in my mind but I'm already gone".
Starting out with just an acoustic guitar, "Know This" builds into a song that is catharsis in a bottle. Braison's voice is as smooth as butter. You can feel his passion for his storytelling behind the tone in his voice with every word he sings. When he brings in Miley in the chorus with her powerhouse vocals, their voices, unsurprisingly, naturally blend so well together. They sound effortless in their harmonies. The instrumentation comes together into a full band with drums, fiddle, banjo and bass, creating an authentic Southern atmosphere, nodding to the siblings' Southern roots.
Braison Cyrus is a singer/songwriter and producer based in Nashville, Tennessee. Although he obviously comes from a very talented and musically inclined family, Braison has taken his path to a music career on his own terms and in his own special way. He started out writing and producing music for others, including his sister Noah Cyrus as well as Fleet Foxes. In 2018, he made his solo artist debut with his first ever single, "I'll Never Leave You", then a debut album in 2021, titled "Javelina". Brasion mixes a modern blend of country and folk, creating a meaningful, captivating sound for all. After a short break, he's back with a few singles before a plan to release his next album in 2026, so make sure to follow him below to stay tuned.
