River Dallas Lemon Teen Scent Cover Art

River Dallas and his brand new single “Lemon Teen Scent” has arrived. This song captures the chaotic and restless feeling of being young. The lyrics present undertones of freedom and self-discovery with a hint of introspection. Its opening verse is gritty, while the pre-chorus and chorus juxtapose this by filling the song with lyrics which symbolize innocence. “Twenty-two on a Tuesday/ Fly by blue jay, yeah” is only one example of Dallas’ playful lyricism. Overall, “Lemon Teen Scent” is a vibrant listen filled with hidden emotional struggle. It probably represents the complexities many of us felt (or still feel) as young teens. And for that, I think it will resonate with anyone whose experienced the bittersweet feelings of growing up.

The musicality of “Lemon Teen Scent” is simplistic; the song features a basic drum beat and smooth guitar lines to create an easy-going, feel good sound. The fusion of pop and rock elements make the single feel nostalgic, yet modern. The production is extremely impressive and up to par with some of today's top rated artists. River Dallas’ deep and captivating vocals are reminiscent of Billie Eilish’s hushed conversational tone. This technique often allows for deeper connection to the listener which for this profoundly personal topic, was an excellent choice.

Hailing from Denmark, River Dallas is an emerging indie-pop artist whose chill melodies and energetic flair will impress you from the start. With "Lemon Teen Scent" now streaming on Spotify, it is clear to see he has the unique ability to connect with an audience on a deeper level. The talented vocals and lyricism which shine through this track also presents River as a capable force to be reckoned with. It's safe to stay this is only the start of a fantastic artist's career.
