Review: "Loving In Third Person" - Bella Jailene

Bella Jailene, "Loving In Third Person," Cover Art

Bella Jailene’s second single, “Loving In Third Person” is a beautiful indie-pop ballad about a what could’ve been relationship and the difficult emotions that come with having to love someone from a distance. The phrase, “loving in third person” is so befitting to accurately describe what this feels like. Jailene’s lyrics, “What a bittersweet existence // Watching you be happy with the wrong one // I’d like to be the one you hold // To feel your love story unfold // But I’m loving in third person,” are relatable and heartbreaking, because there will always be a part of you that remains hopeful that one day things might go in your heart’s favor.

Jailene’s new track “Loving In Third Person” has all the makings of a perfect heartbreak ballad. The song starts out with a captivating piano melody that quickly fades in the background as Jailene’s soft, yet ear-catching voice comes in. The ache that you can hear in her voice as the song goes on, effortlessly matched the emotional lyrics of the song. As the track builds, the addition of some subtle drum beats help add to the indie-pop feel of the song. Jailene’s overall sound reminds me a lot of Olivia Rodrigo. Both possess an innate ability to write songs that are raw, honest, and that many can connect with.

Bella Jailene is a singer-songwriter from Reading, Pennsylvania that has her sights set on making her musical dreams come true. Influenced by the indie-pop sound of artists like Olivia Rodrigo, Jailene leans into deep, emotive storytelling that really captivates listeners. Her debut single, “Naive” showcased Jailene’s songwriting skills, taking the intricacies of romance and heartbreak and turning it into an fun, upbeat pop rock song. If her first two singles were any indication of what’s to come, Jailene will definitely be an artist to watch. Bella Jailene’s latest single, “Loving In Third Person” is now out on all music streaming platforms.
