Kid Sistr’s latest single “Maniac” is a true homage to getting rid of those toxic boys in your life. Grungy, moody, and unapologetically passionate, this is a track that encourages you to get angry and play it on repeat until the message gets through to your– or your friend’s– head to finally dump that guy. If you’re the type to stage interventions for your friends’ relationships, then you’ll find this song endlessly useful as it is catchy. Scream it out the windows, crank it up to 11, and let yourself feel everything as the melody flows from the speakers. That’s what “Maniac” is all about– unrepentant emotions and being honest to yourself about what that guy you’re with is really like. Blast this track and then dump him.

For those of you who like grungy head-nodders, “Maniac” is going to be your song. Personally, I recommend listening to it as loud as possible with a pair of good headphones to get that true scream-along experience– you’ll hear every piece of percussion and string strummed, the vocals smooth and powerful. I especially enjoy how each bit of the soundscape complements the lyrics. The lyrics harness that frustration you might feel toward a boyfriend (soon to be ex) who is egotistical, talks about other girls while you’re around him, and always brings your mood down, and the soundscape forefronts those emotions through its intensity. Every bit of this song helps direct your vexing boyfriend problems into a musical experience, inviting you to stomp and sing with its lyrics. And if you’re not the one with a bad boyfriend, you may have a friend who needs a healthy reality check to bring them out of an unfortunate relationship, and “Maniac” is here to do some of that work for you. It’s an all-around fantastic track that’s perfect for anyone who relates to its lyrics, or just adores grunge.

Kid Sistr is a New York-born indie trio band composed of vocalist-guitarist Sabel, bassist Sara Keden and drummer Becca Webster. With a clear, bright sound and songwriting that’s honest and reflective of their life experiences, Kid Sistr’s music is a place that everyone can find a bit of themselves in. Their debut single “Little Sister Song” dropped back in 2020, and has since been followed by a series of other tracks like “Dallas” and “Please Dump Him”. Their debut EP “Kid Sistr” released the same year, a brilliant six-track project. “Maniac” is Kid Sistr’s latest single, and if you loved the track, then be sure to drop them a follow on their socials! The band is also hitting the road with Kids That Fly and Post Sex Nachos across the midwest with additional stops in Atlanta, Knoxville and elsewhere, so definitely check them out if you’re in the area!
