"mdma (my devil my angel)" is the newest single from Mo Bentley, a song about a toxic and dangerous person that comes into your life that you have feelings for but you know isn't good for you. Mo Bentley describes this person as the drug "MDMA", and compares their relationship to it by describing it as addicting but ultimately harmful. The individual she writes about is a bad person and has hurt her, and she paints this picture in the lyrics with the terrifying situation of being unknowingly drugged. This represents fear that is circulated throughout the relationship, which is due to the actions by the person Mo Bentley is with.
The primary synth of "mdma (my devil my angel)" is electrifying and can be heard in just the first few seconds of the song, along with powerful 808s and Mo Bentley's amazing vocals. In the chorus, bass guitar chords are introduced and the drum line changes, giving this pop single an alternative vibe, making it musically diverse, and adding even more character and originality to it than it already had. As "mdma (my devil my angel)" reaches its conclusion, it becomes acoustic, with the strums of that kind of guitar leading it out, making every section of the song unique and impactful.
