Review: "Missing Me" - Jordan Anthony

Jordan Anthony has released his new single, “Missing Me.” Capturing the exact moment of seeing an ex again, “Missing Me” asks if both people carry more emotional weight than the other expects. An awkward run-in with an ex entails an awkward feeling in which we are solely focused on ourselves. Yet, when looking at the experiences of how we try to pretend, the way we present ourselves to others is sometimes the opposite of how we feel, like putting on a “brave face.” Anthony wrote this song after his own experience of seeing an ex and things not appearing how they seem. The contrast between what seemingly happens and the truth behind the emotions built the thesis that “Missing Me” has at it’s core: what happens when we want to seem fine, but we’re really not?
A poppy ballad, “Missing Me” carries instrumentation that fans of Quinn XCII will love. “Missing Me” carries an amount of empathy that’s unexpected from a song like this, marking the song as it stands out. While there are many factors into why someone may not want to interact with another person, but no matter what, those feelings don’t just disappear. “Missing Me” finds Anthony creating some of his best work so far, a hard accomplishment due to his discography. Looking at how both Anthony feels while he considers what his ex-partner is feeling, the emotional thesis of perception versus truth comes out in “Missing Me.” While there may be tension between him and his ex-partner, fans will be delighted to hear “Missing Me,” adding to an already stellar discography that may find fans wanting more.

Rising in the pop scene, Anthony first became known as a finalist on The Voice Australia in 2019, While that might have been his breakout, Jordan has gone on to accomplish many career highs.
