"Needing Me Now" is the newest song from Blake Stokes, which is about missing your former significant other after they have left you for someone else. Stokes expresses his pain regarding this, and how he feels he’s been replaced by that person’s new romantic interest. He is discouraged that his ex has abandoned the relationship, even though he put a lot of time and effort into it. He doesn’t understand why his ex doesn’t love him anymore and moved on so quickly, and is understandably upset and frustrated by this. This is common when relationships abruptly end; sometimes it even means that your ex was potentially cheating on you with their new significant other before you both broke up, which adds to the hurting of the lyrics.
The production builds upon itself throughout “Needing Me Now”. It begins acoustic, and then as the song progresses the beat is introduced, and the instrumentation in its entirety is amplified in the latter half of the song. This is reminiscent of Stokes’s increasing anger represented in the lyrics. The way “Needing Me Now” was made is very distinctive and fueled by creativity, and was well produced and mixed. It’s a fantastic mix of pop, alternative, and electronic music. It’s alike to an orchestra of guitar chords and drum fills. Stokes also has an incredible voice, and his vocals truly match the genres of the song; I don’t feel as though any artist could sing on this song other than him.
Blake Stokes is an immensely talented music artist. He began his career in October 2023 with his debut single “Hollywood Girls”. He has released other amazing songs in addition to his debut and “Needing Me Now”, including “BURN IT DOWN”, “Aftershock”, and “Secrets”. He writes all of his own music and has also penned several tracks for other artists, in addition to producing them as well, such as liza and Kenzie Harris. He has posted multiple song covers on Instagram and TikTok, including “ALL MY LOVE” by Coldplay and “WILDFLOWER” by Billie Eilish. I really believe Blake Stokes is going to become the next big thing and I can’t wait to see it happen.
