We've all had bad days. Unfortunately, they're unavoidable. With all the bad days and moments, sometimes its easy to question if things will get better. Whether you went through a breakup, lost a friend, or just feel generally upset, once you are knocked down it can be hard to get up. Its even harder because in most situations, only you are the one who can pull yourself together and get up. In "Not Sure" by Madeliene Cope, she shares these sentiments through her honest lyrics: "I can't breathe / I can't speak / I'm unsure what to do / And how to fix it." These lyrics really show how lost you can feel while trying to find your way to feeling better. It's not always easy to move forward past whatever is getting you down, but Madeliene Cope makes it clear in the song that you should hold onto hope. Even if you are unsure, and even if the world around you makes you think otherwise, things will eventually get better.
"Not Sure" is a peaceful song with a sound that can calm you in any situation. The indie, alternative pop song keeps a slow, steady vibe from beginning to end. It feels like the perfect song to listen to during the colder months. The sound of "Not Sure" feels like a warm, comforting hug. The entire song has a sound that made me feel hopeful while listening, almost like I could take on any difficulty thrown at me. From beginning to end, the guitar remains a central force throughout the song. It matches the background music and Madeliene Cope's wistful, soft vocal tone. The guitar adds an extra layer of emotion and adds to the calm vibe. While listening, "Not Sure" had an autumnal vibe, and was immediately added to my Autumn playlist.
