Love can be terrifying, not knowing when it would appear. It can come when you least expect it, and even then you overthink about it all. Child’s new song “Plot Twist” covers this exact feeling of excitement, attraction, and anxiety. It’s a perfect song to listen to when dealing with that unexpected crush. The hesitation, the wanting, the second guessing. All of those feelings are felt and sung for listeners to jam and relate to. So grab those headphones, stop leaving them on read in fear, and dive into this fresh synth song!
There is an EDM introduction to the song, with Child’s raw vocals giving it a great start. There is a groovy bass that follows throughout, capitalized with impactful drums that keep the tempo moving. The occasional guitar strums through the box break create such a cool indie pop vibe. Aiding this is the coolest video-game like arpeggio that rings throughout the choruses. Child’s vocal layers also fill gaps to make the song fuller, creating a very fun-filled song. The emphasis she places on certain lines allows for the feeling to submerge through the voice, hitting listeners ears to travel all the way to the heart. Finally, the dynamics leading toward the finale create such an impactful drop to close out this masterpiece.
