Luna Jones Rotten Cover Art

The track “Rotten” off the debut album This Could Hurt. from Luna Jones is a song about unrequited love. Jones details the timeline of knowing a friend that she has always had a crush on, but was never reciprocated, no matter how much she wanted it to be. This leaves her very upset and in a confused and betrayed state. She doesn’t understand why they wouldn’t want her back and tries to imagine a world in which they were together. Jones is the sole songwriter of “Rotten” and does an incredible job conveying her emotions of heartbreak in each line, writing lyrics that are relatable to many when it comes to the hardships and trials of love.

Indiepop sets the story for this track, with the production emphasizing different elements of the genre. One of these is the melancholy guitar chords, which greatly add to the emotional depth of “Rotten”. Another is the unique and original production that defines each layer of the song, from the vocals to the instrumentation. The drums add a very dramatic vibe to the song that portrays the emotions of the song even more. This is such a beautiful and amazing song, giving off very strong vibes of something that I’ve never heard before but I’m so lucky I can listen to a song like this and a musician like Jones. It’s most likely the creative melodies and Jones’s insane vocal talent, as she’s not only a fantastic songwriter but a fantastic singer as well.

Luna Jones is a virtuoso music artist, and it’s not everyday you come across someone like her in the pop scene. She’s single handedly making a new sound that I expect will soon take over the world. She began her music career just last year in July with her debut single “Lovebomb”, another track from This Could Hurt.. She has released multiple EPs and released her debut album in June 2025. Her overall aesthetic is just one of the factors setting her apart from the rest of her fellow pop girls. In May 2025, she performed live at The Troubadour in West Hollywood. Luna Jones is an exceptional and extraordinary rising star in the music industry!
