RUNNER by Georgia Webster cover art

In her new single “Runner" (stylized in all caps), singer Georgia Webster returns to the music world with her first independent release. In “Runner,” Webster details an experience with an ex-partner who wasn’t even hers to begin with. With her partner making her feel “special” and Webster telling her friends that “it might be love,” Webster follows the signs given: this is the start of something great…only to be told by her partner that “he’s just having fun.” With this saying, Webster launches into the chill chorus of “Runner,” telling listeners that her ex-partner is a “runner,” love-bombing until he gets what he wants, and once he does, he runs the opposite direction to the next person.

“Runner” is a song that’s country in all the right ways. “Runner” features a guitar-heavy instrumentation that fits alongside the summery mood that it brings to speakers and headphones alike. Alongside the summery instrumentation, Webster laying out all of her cards with vulnerable and straight-up lyrics, listeners can not only jam out to this song but also relate to it. With the smooth vocals from Webster, featuring demo-like vocals in the prechorus as a warning to listeners in these situations, and the backing instrumentation making listeners want to roll the windows down this summer, “Runner” has potential to be the song of the summer.

Georgia Webster is a Nashville based singer-songwriter. Inspired by singers like Taylor Swift, Avril Lavigne, and the band Coldplay, Webster started posting her very own music at the age of ten and hasn’t looked back since. While in Nashville, Webster has served as an opening act for some of her favorite artists, like Kelsea Ballerini and Ingrid Andress. Previously signed to Sony Music Nashville, Webster has dived into the independent music scene with ease and poise. With “Runner” being her first entry into this new era of her music career, listeners are eagerly awaiting to see what Webster will do next.
