Review: "Salt Water" - BRDGS

Salt Water by BRDGS Cover Art

Feel the vastness of an intense love with "Salt Water" by BRDGS. This emotional dive into the ocean of love uses natural metaphors, mixing ideas of drowning and dehydration with the way a romance can take its toll on you, but longing and desire still remain. Delving into difficult truths of how a relationship can minimize other parts of life, the lyrics say "from the only thing I wanted to the last thing I have left," and go on to touch on the hypnotic hold that the love has over the speaker. In a true display of weight of the speaker's relationship, lyrics like "eventually your love will be the death of me" solidify a sense of eternal connection mixed with morbidity throughout the chorus. When you're infatuated with a person who may not be the best for you, and you tie them into every part of your life, the results may not be healthy, but they do make a beautiful and impactful song.

With an emotional and slow pop sound, this track captures the delicate nuances of romance. Combining slow piano with BRDGS' expressive singing, listeners can truly feel the intimate reflection in the song. Soulful vocals work gently through the lyrics, bringing a reminiscent and vulnerable expression to the tune. Rising higher with a more intense sound through the chorus, the singing brings a solemn confessional sound. Glowing instrumentals build on the tune as strings and gentle percussion guide the melody into the realm of uplifting. Fans of James Bay and Dean Lewis will love the immersive romantic vulnerability through this moving track.
