A new pop song with an underlying country inudeno, Tiger La Flor released “SAVE A HORSE, BREAK A HEART” last week, and already has over 30,000 streams. Staying true to her typical whimsical and dreamy soundscape, La Flor’s lyrics poke fun at country stereotypes while giving girlboss energy. With lines that tie in with whiskey drinkers and her experience in the dating genre, she leans back and forth on the bucking horse of a new love. Purposely acknowledging the fact that she intends to break his heart, she places the importance of her own feelings over the potential hurt that he will endure.

The track starts with a light snare beat and gradually adds La Flor’s delicate vocals. In the first verse, she states, “A storm is coming for his blue skies / I’m in the mood to make a cowboy cry”. I personally love this lyric, and feel that it showcases her songwriting ability while also being both light hearted and empowering. In her chorus, she sings, “Save a horse, break a heart / Play ‘em like my guitar / Think I drank the good girl out of my blood / I’m a wild ride baby buckle up”. La Flor’s soundscape has a strong pop vibe, with an almost Sabrina Carpenter tone of voice.

With over 130,000 monthly listeners, Tiger La Flor has been making her rise as a solo artist. Tiger, whos real name is Tigerlily Cooley, was also seen on season 14 of the hit show Love Island USA. Stating that she has always loved nostalgia and old Hollywood, her upbringing in the pacific northwest certainly come through in her style of music. Her talent and intrigue transcends her from just a singer-songwriter, and labels her as up and coming all around celebrity. With many singles and an EP titled “see me in hell” on her Spotify discography, La Flor has been gaining traction in the music industry.
