“set my heart on fire” is the newest single from Anna Leanne, a song about the conflicting pains of missing a former significant other. Anna delineates that she was betrayed by her ex, having been left out of nowhere after being in what appeared as the perfect relationship. After having her heart broken, she’s experiencing both nostalgia for the relationship as well as anger. These feelings have mixed and brewed into a double-sided yearning to see her ex again; to be with this person again, and to also question why she was abandoned. Anna sings that the only thing on her mind is her former significant other, and how it’s messing with her head.
As the dreamy synths begin to flood the impeccable song that is “set my heart on fire”, we also hear Anna’s amazing vocal talent. Not only is she a very talented singer, but the way she sings translates the strong emotions from the lyrics into the overall production of the single. The incorporation of the instrumentation - upbeat, pop piano notes - give “set my heart on fire” the ultimate pop atmosphere, reminiscent of early 2010s music that fueled the best summer parties. Supplemented by this is the drop that occurs during the chorus, implementing elements of the EDM genre, making this a genre-bending song.
Anna Leanne is a music artist from Germany, who has already made impressive musical feats at a young age. She’s been writing lyrics and working with producers since last year, when she created her debut single “slow burn”. She also made another fantastic song, “seventeen”, and both releases have remarkably shown her originality and diversity as an artist. Her virtuoso abilities have been discovered by many, as her music has been played on popular radio stations in Germany, which shows how much her music connects to so many people. She is to perform at the Sommer in der Stadt Festival in Amberg on August 8. Anna Leanne is an extraordinary artist!
