Teghan Devon has released her new single, “Shadow.” A dark, indie-rock exploration into being hurt by the person you love the most when at a low point. In “Shadow,” Devon explores the feeling of being exploited at her lowest while her partner knew she needed them in that moment and did nothing about it. Now haunted with her partner’s shadow, Devon now has to “mend the scars [and] the memories” without being scared to. “Shadow” will get listeners on a deeper level than most songs: with every person there has been a relationship, no matter if it’s romantic or platonic, that has sucked the light out of them. With “Shadow,” Devon relies on personal matters and delivers it excellently.

With haunting electric guitar and eerie imagery, Devon releasing “Shadow” has captured the feeling of a person who isn’t really who they say they are in a bottle. While there are unintentional pains caused by people in our lives, people who knew they hurt the other and still continued to do it anyways is a pain no one should feel; but for those listeners who have felt this pain, “Shadow” resonates on a deep level. While to assume someone is a good person should come as second-nature, there’s a reason that holding back with judgement on someone’s character is a positive attribute of some. With “Shadow,” Devon nails the way how someone intentionally hurting another can haunt them for the rest of their lives.

Teghan Devon is an award-winning singer-songwriter based out of the United States. Falling in love with music from a young age, Devon’s been writing and performing her own songs since the age of ten. The years of Devon’s experience show throughout her discography, which includes “I Don’t Wish You The Best” among other great songs, and her accolades, including being a finalist in the International Songwriting Competition. With inspirations like Taylor Swift, Mitski, and Phoebe Bridgers, Devon’s discography takes shape from her world and the emotional vulnerability shown in her discography has listeners wanting more.
