There’s nothing more frustrating than paving your own path and people questioning your every twist and turn. It's our journey and our decisions to make. People will disagree and judge you for any choice they wouldn’t make without realizing it’s your life and not theirs. Brynn Allison released her new single “Shoes” about the frustration that comes with unwarranted opinions on her life. It’s a pop-rock track with that classic singer-songwriter vibe that feels like you’re reading out of a diary and releasing all the rage at the same time. As an indie artist, Brynn has found so much success in her craft and this is the ultimate love letter to all the doubts she faced. “What would you do if you were me and I was you?”
Brynn wrote “Shoes” shortly after she graduated theatre school in the in between time of her moving from Michigan to LA. She stated, “It was a period of immense growth, but mostly, it was filled with a lot of unwarranted opinions about my decision to move across the country to pursue music as an indie artist.” After reading this, I felt even more connected to the song. I moved halfway across the country to work on becoming an indie artist and I know so many others that have done the same. We are supposed to dream big and have ambitions, that’s what we’re told. But once you follow through, everyone around you rewrites the narrative to make you feel like you’ll fail. News flash to everyone, we are made to fail in life, but what’s important is how many times you rise from the failures and become stronger and continually pave your path to success. Brynn didn’t let peoples thoughts on her life stray her and neither should anyone else.
Brynn is now a singer-songwriter following her childhood dreams in Los Angeles. She has a deep rooted love for musical theatre which she attended school for and it aligned with her aspirations to be a musician. Her community was incredibly supportive and raised $12,000 to record her debut studio EP, “Meteor Showers,” in Boston. Brynn released her second EP “Hopeless Romantic” in 2020 and a single titled “Medusa” in 2024. A dream she always had was to play Dorothy in The Wizard of Oz and she wrote “Shoes” as an omen to Dorothy and following the yellow brick road.
