Have you ever been in such a mix of stable and unstable that it is almost impossible to express what’s truly going on in your head? You feel guilty and then detach all the while longing to find the light at the end of the tunnel. All you want to do is fall and hope someone will catch you. Lucy Frosts new single “Slip” is about testing the fall and discovering someone really is there to break it. With an acoustic soundscape, silky vocals and textured synths, this track creates space for the ones with avoidant attachment. It’s the line we walk of wanting to trust but being so afraid. To those who blur the line between fantasy and connection, this is a song you can find empathy with.
Lucy stated that Slip is Royal Tenenbaums Margot. Detached from life in her bathtub, yearning for authentic self acceptance. It’s the numbing coming-of-age realities with anxiety-inducing melodies paired with imperfect instrumentation. There is such an art in imperfect production that brings this tracks emotion to a new level of life. Lucy intended for “Slip” to have a power to heal and dig up the dark thoughts we push so deep and bury as if they won’t find their way back up. Let this song be a reminder that it’s okay to not feel perfect and it’s okay to fall down and allow others to help pick us up. We don’t have to hold the weight of the world on our shoulders. “I might slip from the roof, and hope that it’s you who pulls me back inside”
Lucy Frost is a singer-songwriter from Boston, as well as a Berklee College of Music alumni. At a young age she developed a strong love for musical composition and writing.
