The beginning of a new relationship is exciting. Getting to know someone is fun and seeing how they encourage different sides of you to shine can create wonderful feelings. In time, however, this excitement settles down into routine and stability. Some find this stability monotonous, but it is necessary for a successful partnership. This doesn’t mean that the exciting, puppy-love feeling is gone forever. This is what “summer love” by myah is about. Myah uses reflective lyrics as well as an emotionally complex backing track to describe the reignition or re-realization of that strong, youthful affection during a long-term relationship.

This work begins with a piano chord progression that creates a reflective atmosphere. The energetic drumbeat creates energy that drives the track. The bouncy synths create an almost retro feeling that reminds listeners of the energetic and fun songs from the golden age of disco. During the chorus, myah adds in a vocal echo of the lyrics. This creates a dreamy effect that adds to the soundscape of the track in a beautiful way. The lyrics describe the experience of the honeymoon phase, something temporary. The piano creates a sort of melancholy mood, and the percussion adds an upbeat feeling that combines and reflects the fun but bittersweet nature of the beginning of a relationship.

Myah is an indie musician from South Florida. She works within a variety of genres, including pop, alternative rock, and pop-punk. Not only is myah a phenomenal musician, but she is also a filmmaker. Storytelling is a huge aspect of her art. She explores a wide range of human emotion, creating masterful works of art that delve deep into the human experience. Myah will be releasing a debut album in August of this year entitled “i don’t know what i’m feeling”. On this album will be a number of fantastic songs, including “summer love”. She already has garnered praise from a number of sources for her storytelling and performance abilities, and there is no doubt that myah will make a name for herself.
