Orlando-based pop-punk sister-trio Hello Sister releases their latest single, “Tell Me Boy.” Built to blast through the speakers, the track vents their relationship drama—the typical confusion that comes with dating the non-committal boy. Overdrive-filtered rock guitars and mentions of vintage t-shirts dress the single with the effortless edge of the cool older sister in classic 2000s teen movies. They revive the anti-indecisiveness diss that made Katy Perry’s “Hot n Cold” a cultural staple. But among the mind games, Hello Sister shows off their playful side, singing “Just like Carly/ Call me maybe.” The wordplay feels strategically placed—like custom stickers and ink spirals scattered across a notebook page. Hello Sister is who you call up for relationship tragedies. They hand over “Tell Me Boy” as if it were a much-needed CD mixtape.
“Tell Me Boy” laces up Converse and kicks out the mixed signals. No more tripping over love-bombing or left-on-delivered messages. The sludgy guitar riff expresses the agonizingly slow tick of a clock before slamming drums pick up the tempo. The kick, snares, and cymbals sound like the collage of paranoia, jealousy, and wonder of “what are we?” Although the question may go unanswered, Hello Sister offers company through the struggle.
The sister group is made of Grace (lead vocals, keyboards, and bass), Gabriella (background vocals and guitar), and Scarlett (background vocals and drums). Hello Sister performed on Season 16 of America’s Got Talent, receiving a standing ovation from Simon Cowell. Since then, the trio has taken the stage at iHeartRadio’s 2023 Jingle Ball, EPCOT, the Special Olympics, and the Super Girl Surf Pro Festival. Catch up with them using the links below.
