Artist Chloe Sofia comes to us with a new single, "The Girl Next Door,"Â a youthful alt-rock track that follows the story of not being picked by someone because they don't follow the "sweet girl" archetype. It's a spunky anthem that comes across as empowering for those who have felt rejected for our true personalities. Chloe Sofia includes so much dramatic flare in "The Girl Next Door" and it only increases the fun factor on this track. What makes "The Girl Next Door" such a great coming-of-age anthem is that these feelings of being the kind of girl the guy doesn't choose are a part of growing up. It's a classic tale that never gets old, because so many of us can connect to it.
As soon as the song begins you feel transported into a film. The guitars match this style well as they have classic indie tone to them. As the story begins, you can immediately see how Chloe Sofia is trying to be emotionally vulnerable and silly at this same time. She makes sure to show some of her insecurities while also poking fun at this new relationship. While this song does portray some self-doubt, the humor aspect adds more to the confidence factor. What also adds to the drama factor is the song feels as if it's always building up on itself. The story's journey does feel very physical as it's so easy to follow in the steps as the speaker. It's nice to see someone so unapologetically themselves, it's an image audiences love to see in an artist. Additionally, this indie/alternative rock style really fits Chloe Sofia and it would be really interesting to see her fully immerse herself in this genre. Overall, "The Girl Next Door" does a great character study of what kind of artist Chloe Sofia can be and excites you enough to be curious about what else she is capable of accomplishing.
Chloe Sofia is a young singer and songwriter who is starting out her career with so much energy. Her debut single "Pulse" was released this year in April and it has already accumulated over 15,000 streams on Spotify. "The Girl Next Door" is her second release, and based on these two tracks audiences are starting to get a good idea of her musical style. Her music could be categorized in the pop rock/alt-rock style, similar to artists like Olivia Rodrigo. For someone so young, she does a great job at being emotionally vulnerable as most people her age try to play things like this as cool as possible. Young artists like Chloe Sofia are exciting because they don't shy away from emotional topics. Listening to Chloe Sofia reminds you of what it was like to be young and full of so many conflicting emotions, in a good way.
