Matt Hansen has released his newest single “THINKING BOUT ME”, a song about wondering if a former significant other still reciprocates the same undecided feelings towards you that you have for them. Although the relationship that Hansen writes about did not end on good terms, he still constantly thinks about his ex, and these thoughts could consist of regret for how the relationship ended, missing this person, and/or wanting to reconcile, whether they just stay friends or begin dating again. Lines such as “I’ve been staying up / Replaying conversations” shows how he reminisces on what once was, and how he yearns for the past.
The moment you hit play on “THINKING BOUT ME”, you immediately hear Hansen’s signature, genre-bending sound. This is implemented by the choir that introduces the song that transitions into the guitar strums that are the background for Hansen’s incredible vocals. What adds even more atmosphere and positive, summery vibes to this amazing song are the drums and synths. The usage of them and the way they add depth to “THINKING BOUT ME” shows how much meticulous effort was put into every element of this single. The vocal and production styles have so much personality in every second of this song.
Matt Hansen is a California native who never fails to show how talented and hardworking of a musician he is, still releasing incredible music even right after crafting his seventeen-track album Orchid. He proves he can’t put down his pen and guitar, displaying his virtuoso abilities with everything he has put out into the world for the past five years. Many people are well aware of this, as Hansen has performed in front of massive crowds and Orchid emerged in the top ten of Spotify album debuts. The powerful and supportive messages he puts into his songs has connected many and created a large community for his fanbase, who will get to see him perform on his upcoming tour.
