Searching for the perfect way to usher the summer in? Feast your ears on ‘Velvet’ from Souvenir. ‘Velvet’ is torn straight from a synth-pop cloth, exploding with pure, positive energy and a throwback vibe. Whether you’re under the hot sun or spotlight above the dance floor, Souvenir has created an ideal song to throw on. Details of vintage red wine, black suede, and losing yourself in good vibes paint an image that pulls you in and makes you not want to leave. Not only does ‘Velvet’ sound part of an expansive, creative, and safe atmosphere, but it additionally reinforces those qualities both through Souvenir’s lyricism and energy. ‘Velvet’ is all-inclusive, otherworldly, yet familiar all at the same time.
With a smooth, eclectic voice that is genre-bending, Souvenir includes shifts within ‘Velvet’ that will remind you both of classic funk and pop. On top of this unique blend, Velvet combines this sound with clever lyrics that tie quality writing and pure fun together. Souvenir’s blending of these genres, combined with open-mindedness, allows for a balanced and universal listening experience that could draw anyone in. No matter the audience, Velvet undeniably drips with romance, sparks, and heart – all led by Souvenir’s ability to cater to generations across the board. The influence of ‘Velvet’ may pull from the 70’s with its funk qualities, but it doesn’t stop there. Souvenir pulls influence from several periods of time, not limiting the song’s sound and allowing for his experience to speak for itself. It’s clear, even through this single track, that Souvenir knows how to blend nostalgia with the current desired attributes of the Millennial/Gen-Z space.
Souvenir is a Brooklyn-based artist making music within the world of synth-pop excellence. Souvenir uses the knowledge and comfort of classics he was raised on and combines it with current pop music trends to create a free, energetic, and electric space. His music is dedicated and tuned in to youth, the modern queer experience, adventure, falling in love, etc. Living in a small town in Cape Cod, then going to Miami for musical school, and finally New York City, you can hear a widespread influence throughout Souvenir’s music. Since the release of his 2022 EP ‘Human Nature’, he has worked with producer & collaborator FLORIO. This pairing has brought us ‘Soft Place to Land’, a summer-dripped single, which prepared the two for ‘Velvet’. Continually releasing music that falls under the umbrella of euphoric pop, Souvenir continues to carve out his own path in the industry and focus on releasing songs true to his nature.
