“Vinegar and Honey (Written About Me)” is the newest single from Shelby Sanborn, a song about wanting closure from a past relationship. While it was short, it left an impact on the singer because it was during an important time in her life. Now, her ex is reaching out after years apart, which is causing her to consider getting back together with them. Sanborn recounts how the relationship went, and explains that there were good moments, but overall, she didn’t feel they were truly meant to be. This is making her unsure as to whether or not she should get back in touch with her ex; she may still have feelings, but she knows they’re incompatible.
The tropical, sand between your toes, and warm sunny weather-esque production of “Vinegar and Honey (Written About Me)” is intertwined with elegance and class, which is exuded in the guitar chords and melodies. The song is primarily acoustic, with some synths, but not too much to overshadow the instrumentation. The overall sound is very lovely, and listening to the song feels like walking alongside the shore of a beach at sunset. This is supplemented by the drums, which add to the whole beachy vibe of “Vinegar and Honey (Written About Me)". Sanborn also has amazing vocals and provides fantastic harmonies throughout the single.
Shelby Sanborn is a virtuoso music artist and actress from San Diego, California. She began singing and performing covers of songs at a young age, and as mentioned in the song, she studied music and songwriting at Berklee College. She began her music career in July 2018 with the release of her debut single “Desperately in Love”. In June 2019, she released her debut album Home Without a House. She has released other fantastic music in addition to her debuts and her new single, including the songs "Overcome", "Living in Winter", and "Chained to the Past". Shelby Sanborn is an incredible and very talented musician!
